The Montclair Art Walk is back for Spring 2024. This is an event that brings together the community, local businesses, and artists.

It is a time for all to experience the diverse arts and culture of Montclair New Jersey, indulge in local gastronomy, shop at local businesses for unique and original gifts, network with people from all walks of life and enjoy all that Montclair has to offer.

 

Solano Exp is proud to not only be a part of this exciting event but to also host two local artists, Jose Camacho, Painter, and Tommy Tutalo, Photographer/Writer. These are two talented artists who connections to the Latino community whose art reflects Latino culture.

 

Jose Camacho, a native of Puerto Rico who studied communications at the University Sagrado Corazon, was encouraged by his professor to study painting and drawing at the Arts League in Old San Juan, eventually seeding the roots of his art career right here in Montclair.

 

At Montclair State University Jose studied painting and drawing with Miriam Beerman and received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Jose Camacho has received various awards and is currently the director of Midland Gallery in Montclair.

 

From paintings and prints of plantins, letters, phrases and text Camacho captures the vitality of the human spirit, especially that of a Latino,“In my work, I explore notions of beauty, memory, time, and nostalgia. I have a strong concern for the cultural problem and the colonized status of the island of Puerto Rico.

 

Tommy Tutalo, a native of West Orange studied art history and played soccer at Stockton University. After winning a DIV III national championship with the 2001 Stockton Men’s soccer team and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree Tommy began his journey as an artist.

 

A self-published author, screenwriter and visual artist with a focus on photography, Tutalo’s work is considered to be diverse and universal. As a member of the Solano Exp team Tommy who has a keen eye for the aesthetics and beauty of life documents Solano Exp’s travels throughout the various regions of Mexico, capturing the heart and soul of Mexico with a cinematic eye.

 

Solano Exp will host both of these talented artists during the Art Walk Thursday April 11th, 4-9pm. Join us as we celebrate the beautiful artwork created by Jose Camacho and Tommy Tutalo. Beverages and food will be provided. We hope to see you there.
